Marc Groenen is honorary professor of the Free University of Brussels (Belgium), where he was teaching Prehistoric Art and Archaeology and Philosophical Anthropology.
After directing the study of El Castillo cave, he is presently studying the cave of La Pasiega (Cantabria), as well as some caves of SW France. Marc Groenen is considered today as one of the cave art specialists. He was a member of the Chauvet commission (UNESCO) and former vice-president of the IUPPS “Rock art” commission. He is also the author of 17 books and over a hundred articles.
